Linear Scheduling with Turbo Chart

Academy_header 01

Proove Academy provides a one-day training in Linear Scheduling with Turbo Chart. This training elaborates on the overall Turbo Chart tool usage. Participants are introduced to the possibilities of Time-Distance Diagrams, followed by a step-by-step guide on how to configure the Turbo Chart layout and formatting the Time, Distance, and Data Fields. Shape Codes are configured.

The graphical layout of Turbo Chart is set up, followed by an import action of existing data from the planning tool of preference. We fine-tune this project using the Time Distance Diagram. At the end of this training, the participants will be able to create a Time Distance Diagram using the sample data, but also on their own projects. Participants are requested to bring their own data. The trainer will be at your disposal to answer your queries.

Why this training

Why this training?

Studies show that different minds require different representations of data, and furthermore that a graphical representation is the most effective one. Turbo Chart offers a solution where the timeline is interfaced with a linear representation of your project. The resulting drawing is a one page representation of (a part of) your project where phases and locations are coupled. Equipment movement is clearly shown, alongside the (in)availability of locations in certain timepoints.

Turbo Chart is not a scheduling engine but integrates with scheduling software like Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Excel.

Learning method

Learning method

The first part of the training is mainly focusing on the tool configuration. The overall idea is to keep the planning tool (Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project) as a leading tool. The TDD created is the build of railroad infrastructure works with several linear activities and only contains time and distance data.

For part two, we require the users to have been trained in scheduling best practices or have extensive scheduling experience. Proove provides Scheduling best practices, Primavera P6 basic, and Microsoft Project training to facilitate this. Having followed one of the former training courses or day-to-day experience is required to enroll in this training.
